The Problem
I recently found myself in need of a new apartment after spending several years in my previous one.
Apartment hunting isn't easy, especially in Israel, where only two outdated platforms dominate property listings.
This experience got me thinking about how technology, specifically AI, could revolutionize this process.
The Challenge
Crafting an AI-powered apartment rental platform with standout features.
AI Search bar
But, before we delve deeper...
Let’s talk about numbers
As I began shaping my idea, I conducted a survey among 12 individuals who recently searched for apartments.
The goal was to understand their habits and pain points, crucial for prioritizing features in this project.
Here are some details about the survey participants:
12
Total participants in the survey
🇮🇱 Israel
Location of participants in the survey
66%
Searched for apartments for multiple persons
59%
Moved more than once in the last 10 years
Key Findings
Unavailable listings
Users expressed frustration with many apartment listings being unavailable.
Comparison issues
There were difficulties in effectively comparing apartment features.
Lack of communication
Users found it challenging to connect with landlords.
Not suitable listings
Many search results included apartments that were not suitable.
“It is very hard to find an apartment that matches my expectations” - Aviv
“I can’t count the times I addressed the owner and he told me that the apartment is not available any more” - Gal
Secondary Research
To gather more data, I conducted online research, exploring literature and articles. This aimed to understand the digital rental market, user needs, and industry practices.

Competitive Analysis
I conducted a detailed analysis comparing Israel's top rental platforms - Facebook Market, Yad2, and Madlan - to identify gaps in the market. Further research on global platforms helped identify potential feature enhancements.
Wireframes -> High Fidelity Design
User Flows
Next, I moved to Figma and began focusing on my priority features.
I started with simple sketches to map out user flows before diving into detailed designs.
Once the wireframes made sense and the flows were clear, I established the foundational elements like colors, fonts, and icons. Then, I created more complex elements as reusable components to design the full screens.

Usability Testing
To gather feedback and evaluate the product, I created task flows and questions using the Maze application. This helped identify issues and fill gaps in the design.
I iterated the design based on feedback from multiple testing cycles.
Overall Positive Feedbacks
“I really liked the way i can write anything I want and the results just become accurate”
“This dynamic comparing tool could be so helpful for me”
